Staff and customers have bid farewell to a popular pub landlord who brought “personality, humour and character” to Bewdley.
The team at The Mug House have thanked Hossey Saghri for the years of hard work, energy and love he put into the pub, and wished him well for his next chapter.
Manager Jo Rhoden, who has worked at The Mug House for 20 years, described Mr Saghri as a “fabulous boss” and a “friend for life”.

She said: “We are all firm friends with Hossey. His success is due to mutual respect for the team, kindness and understanding. He’s a real one-off, a real personality and a true gentleman.
“Bewdley has been a brighter place having Hossey at The Mug House.”
Mr Saghri has been part of the Bewdley community for many years with customers, fellow businesses and residents sharing fond memories and wishing him all the best for the future.
This includes the team at Bewdley Farm Shop, who said it had been a “pleasure to deal with you all these years”.
They added: “Good luck in whatever adventures come your way.”
Another person said: “Wishing you all the best – thank you for making The Mug House what it is today.”
The pub will be under new ownership from this week with the businesses reassuring customers that there will be no changes and the same team will be in place.

The team at the Mug House said: “Hossey has been such a huge part of The Mug House and of the wider Bewdley community.
“From the busy services, the late nights, the laughs, the challenges and everything in between, he has put an enormous amount of time, energy and passion into making this place what it is.
“Anyone who knows Hossey will know that he certainly hasn’t done things quietly. He has brought his own personality, humour and character to the pub, and there are going to be plenty of people who will miss seeing him behind the scenes.
“Most importantly, we want to say thank you – for the years of hard work, for the memories, for the friendships and for everything you’ve done for The Mug House.
“As The Mug House moves into its next chapter and welcomes new ownership, there will be no other changes to the amazing team we are lucky to have just Hossey starting a new journey without us, we wish Hossey nothing but the very best for whatever comes next.”
Ms Rhoden, whose husband Mark is head chef at The Mug House, added: “The new owners have no plans to change anything. They just want to build on Hossey’s amazing success.
“He’s been a fabulous boss and a friend for life for many people.”
