A new bookshop dedicated to film and theatre will launch online.
Fourth Wall Bookshop goes live at 9am on Thursday, July 30 and is believed to be the UK’s first specialist online retailer focused exclusively on titles related to stage and screen.
The brainchild of Worcester musician and film enthusiast Jack Campey, the shop reflects his desire to see the performing arts given more space on the shelves.
Mr Campey said: “I’m creating the bookshop I’ve always wished existed, bringing together plays, screenplays, librettos, vocal scores, film and theatre craft, biographies, behind-the-scenes books and collector’s editions in one place.
“I want it to be a bookshop that inspires, intrigues and delights.
“A place of discovery and a refuge for anyone with an interest in stage and screen.”
The shop features a carefully curated collection that includes material for professionals, students, and casual enthusiasts alike.
Mr Campey hopes to encourage exploration, offering a space not just to find a known title but to discover something new.
He has hand-picked every book on the site and said he has been buoyed by encouragement from publishers and colleagues in the performing arts.
A conductor who set up a 70-piece orchestra to tour concerts celebrating the music of stage and screen, Mr Campey previously worked in supply chain planning before leaving to run Fourth Wall full-time.
He said: “It’s the biggest decision of my life, but my passion has always been storytelling, music, film and the performing arts.
“Eventually I had to accept that I’d rather be surrounded by books than spreadsheets.”
Looking to the future, he hopes to build a wider community of stage and screen fans through the business.
“The next phase will hopefully see the bookshop offer masterclasses with industry experts, pop up events, book launches/signings, and social events,” he said.
