A TERRIFIED mother has spoken about the moment her daughter said a strange man was talking to her through a bedroom window which ended with riot police closing the street.
The mum, who asked not to be named, was shocked when her daughter came into the living room of her Warndon flat at night and said a man was speaking to her through her bedroom window.
The terrified woman ran to the child’s bedroom and found a man standing near the window – an incident which ended with the street being closed and a stand off with riot police.
Residents on Cranham Drive reported hearing a man threatening people while attacking them with a wooden stick and said there was a stand off with police.
The woman, who did not want to be named, said: “My child came to my living room to say a man was talking to her through her bedroom window.
“I found him stood with his head on my child’s window.
“I asked asked hm to move and he got very aggressive, throwing a big stick at us and a broken sharp wooden spoon.

As the evening continued, more police cars were parked outside the flat and, later, riot police armed with shields were called in.
Around three hours after the first officers arrived, the man was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon, and he remains in police custody.
The incident has left the woman and her family shaken up and afraid of living in their own home.
She said: “It has had an immense impact on my daughter; she barely slept last night and has been taken out of her lessons at school.”
“I am very concerned and uncomfortable with staying here.”
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “The man was in an address when officers arrived and was later arrested on suspicion of assault and being in possession of an offensive weapon.
“He remains in police custody.”
