A MERCEDES driver has been arrested after a search of the vehicle revealed cannabis and more.
Police officers were alerted to the vehicle on the M50 near Newent after a member of the public reported seeing the driver inhaling nitrous oxide whilst driving.
The driver also failed a roadside drugs test.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “The driver of this vehicle was reported to the police by a member of the public who saw them inhaling nitrous oxide while driving.
“Officers located the vehicle near Junction 3 of the M50. Following a search, a quantity of drugs was found inside the vehicle. The driver also failed a roadside drug test, testing positive for cannabis. The driver was arrested and dealt with accordingly.
“Drugs can seriously impair your ability to drive safely, affecting reaction times, coordination, concentration and vision. Our officers can carry out roadside drug tests to detect drivers under the influence of cannabis and cocaine.
“We will continue to target dangerous and impaired drivers 24/7 to keep our roads safe.”
