MASKED men on a motorbike targeted police in a broad daylight incident in Stourport.
Three men have been arrested after the shocking incident which happened on Linden Avenue at 1pm on Saturday, September 26.
Two men wearing balaclavas and riding a black motorbike threw a brick at the driver’s side window of the police car.
Officers believe the incident is connected to an earlier event at 12.30pm on Yarranton Close, where threats were made against police recovering an untaxed vehicle.
The same motorbike is also thought to have been involved in a crash on York Street at around 4pm.
It was abandoned at the scene and later recovered by police.
On Monday, September 28, two men were arrested in the Bewdley area.
An 18-year-old was held on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, criminal damage, and a public order offence.
A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of threats to cause criminal damage and theft of a motor vehicle.
Both have been released on bail.
A 19-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and theft of a motor vehicle and remains in custody.
Sergeant Ian Squires of the Wyre Forest Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “We are pleased to make three arrests following this unacceptable and unprovoked attack on an officer who had been executing his duties.
“Fortunately, the officer involved was uninjured, but this could have been a very different outcome that could have resulted in members of the public being hurt as well.
“West Mercia Police takes such incidents very seriously as an attack on a police officer or indeed, any other emergency service worker, is an attack on society.”
