A Cotswolds hotel with a spa has been named the best hotel in England for 2026.
Calcot & Spa, near Tetbury, took the top honour after being crowned AA Hotel of the Year for England at the AA Hospitality Awards 2026.
The awards ceremony was hosted by singer Fleur East at Grosvenor House in London on Monday, September 1.
The luxury hotel is based in a former farmhouse and has developed into a wider countryside estate offering accommodation, dining and spa facilities.
It expanded its accommodation offering during the summer with the introduction of a small collection of two-bedroom treehouses.
An AA inspector described the hotel as offering ‘unique luxury with award-winning spa and wellness facilities’.
The AA said: “Calcot & Spa was a homely former farmhouse but is an impressive estate with award-winning spa and wellness facilities, extensive rewilded areas, walks and a real sense of getting away from it all.”
It added: “No two rooms are identical, and each is beautifully decorated and equipped with modern comforts.
“The main dining option is in the unfussy Brasserie while all-day grazing, cocktails and more are available in The (buzzy) Hive.
“Over in the spa, indulgent treatments and relaxation are the order of the day while the Grain Store, a state-of-the-art fitness sanctuary, is also available with its own cafe.
“For children, a supervised crèche and ‘playzone’ are a real bonus for families.”
The Hotel of the Year award is one of the honours presented as part of the annual AA Hospitality Awards, which recognise hotels and hospitality businesses across the UK.
