A SPATE of anti-social behaviour in Worcester city centre has forced police to take action with a dispersal order.
West Mercia Police have imposed the powers in city centre and parts of St John’s, giving officers the power to direct people suspected of being involved in anti-social behaviour, crime or disorder to leave the area for a specified period.
If they do not follow this order and return, they can be arrested.

Inspector Dave Wise said: “This is a proportionate measure intended to prevent persistent anti-social behaviour from escalating and to support our businesses and the wider public.
“Five dispersal directions have already been issued, and officers will continue to patrol the city centre and use the powers where necessary.”
The decision follows discussions with Worcester BID and the local authority, after officers identified early signs of further issues emerging in the city centre.
The order will be in place until 3.50pm on Sunday, August 2, and a police spokesperson said the powers are not intended to affect people visiting, working in or enjoying the city centre lawfully.
