A 17-year-old girl has been arrested following the death of a cyclist in Worcester.
The cyclist, a man in his 60s, was killed following a collision on the A4440 last night (September 25).
A 17-year-old girl, who was driving a white Suzuki Swift involved in the crash, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision between a car and a cyclist in Worcester last night (Friday 25 September).
“The collision occurred at around 10.15pm on the A4440 Swinesherd Way involving a white Suzuki Swift and a man on a pedal cycle.
“The Suzuki was travelling along the A4440 from the junction of Whittington Road onto Swinesherd Way, towards the junction of the A44 when it was in collision with the bicycle.
“Unfortunately, the cyclist – a man in his 60s – sustained serious injuries and, despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was declared deceased at the scene a short time later.
“The driver of the car, a 17-year-old girl, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving is currently helping police with enquiries.
“Anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision, who may have seen the vehicles or may have dashcam footage is encouraged to get in touch.

According to witnesses, the A4440 was closed for several hours. Police officers were seen with flashlights searching the side of the northbound carriageway, and two young women were talking with police officers.
