SEVEN TG Jones stores in Worcestershire are at risk of shutting after the company was told to approve the closure of up to 150 locations or face administration.
The rebranded high street WH Smith stores were taken over by Modella Capital in 2025, but are facing financial issues, with eight stores closing across the country in the last week.
The brand currently operates stores in Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Evesham, Kidderminster, Malvern, Redditch, and Worcester.
Modella Capital has proposed closing up to 150 stores and pumping £35 million into the retailer to save it.
Should the company not carry out it downsizing plans, TG Jones risks being put into administration at the end of July.
While TG Jones bought the high street locations, WH Smith continued the ownership of their travel stores in airport, railway stations, and motorway services, making the WH Smith in Hopwood Park services on the M42 the only store remaining in the county.

As a result of this, Modella were forced to rename the stores they bought in town and city centres, something the company told PA had had a negative impact on people’s awareness of the brand,
A spokesperson also said that Government policy pushing up business costs was partly to blame.
