A MAN on a mission to save pubs at risk of being sold for housing developments and HMOs is set to breathe life back into a Worcester pub.
Peter Lewis has now taken over the running of The Brewers Arms in St John’s and has shared huge ambitions for the venue’s future.
The businessman will open the pub on Comer Road tomorrow (Friday) in a bid to “bring something lost back” to the area.

“It is going to be a little mission,” he said.
“I would like to create something. I want to build it from the ground up with the community.
“I don’t want it to be a place that people will just come and give us money – we want people to be excited.
“There are lots of pubs out there that are empty and are at risk of being sold and turned into flats, HMO’s and things like that.
“We do not want that to happen. We want to bring something back.”
Mr Lewis plans to reopen tomorrow evening, first opening the doors and getting customers into the venue.
However, he revealed that he will begin refurbishing the venue and hosting community events like bingo, quiz nights, live music, and dart competitions.
He also revealed he is in talks with the University of Worcester over students designing a mural for the beer garden.
“I want people to say I have been going to this pub for years,” he added
“What is the point of having a pub closed? You need to do the legwork, and there are multiple opportunities here.
“I thought I would come, give this some energy and get the right local manager in here to run it,” he added.
“We will do whatever the locals want. I want to ask them what they want, not do what I think they want.
“There is talk of reinvesting in the venue through refurbishments and bringing in some TVs for sports.”
There are also plans to introduce pizzas once the venue is fully operational.
