A major UK cycling company that provided Brits with access to some of the sport’s biggest brands, including Castelli, has closed after falling into administration.
Saddleback, founded in 2004, was an “elite” road cycling and mountain biking distributor.

The Saddleback website adds: “Founded by real cycling enthusiasts in 2004, our passion for elite performance runs through everything we do at Saddleback.
“Our team of dedicated roadies, mountain bikers and triathletes practice what we preach to bring you the finest cycling products and a superior service to match.”
Saddleback “no longer operational” as it falls into administration
But now, after 22 years in business, Saddleback has closed down.
An automatic reply, set up on the Bristol-based company’s emails, reads: “Saddleback Ltd is no longer operational, as of Friday 29th May 2026.
“If you have any inquiries about products, please get in touch directly with the brand.
“Everyone at Saddleback Ltd would like to thank you for your custom and support during the time of operation.”
The closure follows Saddleback falling into administration, with the company having “filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators”, according to TheBusinessDesk.com.
Around 42 staff have lost their jobs as a result of the collapse, The Times reported.
Other UK companies that have closed or entered administration/liquidation in 2026
It has been a year for the UK high street, with several retailers entering administration and others announcing widespread store closures.
Major high street retailers LK Bennett and Claire’s both closed all their stores in April, having previously fallen into administration.
Quiz also revealed that it will be closing its 37 remaining stores by the end of June, after falling into administration in February (for the second time in 12 months).
Other retailers have been forced to close stores this year, including:
Iguanas Holdings Limited, which runs 47 Las Iguanas restaurants across the UK, and Poundstretcher are also in danger of collapsing into administration if restructuring plans aren’t agreed, having “fallen into financial difficulties”.

UK delivery company Yodel is set to be phased out over the coming months after being acquired by InPost.
It’s also been reported that Morrisons is looking to sell some of its in-store pharmacies as it continues to cut costs.
It’s not been all bad news for the UK high street, with several major brands announcing new store openings for 2026, including Aldi, M&S, and Superdrug.
