LONG queues snaked down the car park at a Worcester garden centre as it celebrated its milestone birthday with free giveaways.
Customers were seen outside St Peter’s Garden Centre at 7.30am today (Saturday) in the hope to be the first through its doors to grab a free plant.
St Peter’s Garden Centre, which first opened on Farm Pear Tree Drive in 1986, will be celebrating 40 years in full bloom this May Bank Holiday.

The site was first opened by Tony Blake as a small local nursery and garden sundries shop for the community, and has since grown into the vibrant garden centre it is today.
The first 40 customers in the queue today received a free plant, a slice of cake and a cold drink.
The site will also be handing out another free 40 plants to the first customers through its doors on Sunday (May 3).
