Youngsters are being given a final chance to design the ‘home of the future’ and win a cash prize.
Redrow Midlands, the developer behind the Royal Gardens at Kensington Gate in Worcester, is inviting children aged four to 16 to take part in the competition by imagining what a house might look like in 2126.
The winning entry will receive £100 and will also have their design buried in a time capsule at the Bromyard Road development, to be unearthed 50 years from now.
Joanne Watson, sales director for Redrow Midlands, said: “With the deadline fast approaching, this is the last chance for Worcester’s creative youngsters to get involved and show us what they think a home could look like in 100 years.
“We can’t wait to see your designs.
“We’ve already been blown away by the imagination of the entries, and we can’t wait to see what more young people come up with.
“Who knows, your design could help shape the homes of the future.”
The design brief encourages children to think creatively about technology and sustainability, suggesting ideas such as mood-changing wallpaper, self-cleaning bathrooms, or fridges that restock themselves.
The winner from Worcester will join other regional winners from across the UK, with one national winner to be announced later this year.
Ms Watson said: “Here at Redrow Midlands, we’re committed to bringing young people into the construction sector and are recognised by the industry for our training excellence and apprenticeship programme.
“What better way to celebrate local talent and showcase the wonderful imagination and creative abilities of the next generation?”
Royal Gardens at Kensington Gate features three, four, and five-bedroom homes in a residential setting close to the city.
Entries should be submitted by email to BarrattRedrow@wpragency.co.uk.
