STEP inside Worcester’s café owned by two experienced chefs who say their high-quality food made from scratch makes them stand out from the crowd.
Rachel Bowley and Marius Fae-Morgan opened Brewed Awakening, Sidbury, in early December.
The couple are both trained chefs with experience in the hospitality industry, but decided to start their own business following the birth of their son.
Miss Bowley said: “We did not want to do those hours again; it can be a bit of a slog working 16-hour days sometimes.
“So we thought we would rather do something for ourselves.”
With their backgrounds in the industry, the couple have focused on providing high-quality food made from scratch.
This ranges from cakes and sweet treats to sandwiches and sausage rolls.

Miss Bowley said: “That’s our selling point. There are so many coffee shops in Worcester, but if you go to a lot of them, unfortunately, a lot of things are brought in.
“I think a lot of our customers appreciate that we are independent and make everything in-house.”
Mr Fae-Morgan added: “We are keeping it simple as well. You do not want to try and do too many things at once.
“These days, people just want good food at reasonable prices.”
While the winter months are quite quiet for the business, a spring in customer numbers has coincided with the new season, and Brewed Awakening has established itself as a devoted base of regulars.
Miss Bowley said: “The first few months have been slow, but January is a rough time to open in this industry for anybody, and everywhere we have worked has always been quiet in January.
“But since the sun has started to come out over the last month or so, it has really picked up.
“Over time, we have got a lot of really nice regulars who keep coming back to see us.
“Everyone has been really positive about the food. One of our regulars commented that it was the best brownie they had ever tasted.”
Brewed Awakening is open between 8am and 4pm Monday to Sunday.
