A beloved cafe has reopened at a new home as three generations of the same family welcomed back loyal customers – but the team would love to see new faces too.
Julie’s Cafe reopened at Farmers Way, Droitwich on Tuesday (April 7) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Cllr Dan Birch as the team welcomed back loyal customers.
As previously reported, the team found the new home quicker than expected after the community rallied behind the business.
While the old cafe was on an industrial estate, the new one is in the heart of a residential community, so the team hope to welcome new faces as well as their loyal customer base.
Three generations of the same family were there for the opening – owner Julie Smith, daughter Lauren Pallante and her nine-week-old son, Luca Pallante.

The previous incarnation of the cafe at West Bank in Berry Hill Industrial Estate in Droitwich closed on Friday, March 6 at 1.30pm after more than a quarter of a century serving its popular breakfasts and lunches.
However, the team was determined to find a new home, and when an opportunity presented itself, they did not hesitate.

Julie Smith said: “I feel both relieved and excited. They’re all regulars and I haven’t seen any new faces yet but we’re keen to welcome them when they arrive. We are in the heart of the community here. I want to thank all our loyal customers for sticking with us and our staff who have worked so hard for two weeks since we got the place. They have been painting and cleaning. They have done everything.”

Mrs Smith said she wanted to thank Satvinder at Select and Save, a nearby shop, for helping them set up the new business and get ready for their customers.
The business, previously on the town’s George Baylis Road, had been at its Berry Hill location for 13 years until the doors were closed on March 6 ahead of the latest move to Farmers Way, a short distance away.
The cafe began as Lynn’s Catering in 1992. Mrs Smith started as a cleaner but was soon cooking and now owns the business.
An agreement has ended with the owners of the building which is the reason for the closure of the previous premises.
