A POPULAR bakery in the heart of Evesham has addressed rumours that the business might be moving or closing.
The mother-daughter duo, Natalia and Ula Kuc, behind Sour Power Bakery, have confirmed that they are looking to move to bigger premises.
Opening as a takeaway bakery on Bridge Street in May 2025, the business has slowly outgrown the former charity shop site, adding soups, breakfasts, and more.
The business has been a welcome addition to Evesham; the pair have been honest and said ‘the next chapter may take us outside of Evesham’.
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, the pair ‘do not want to leave’ and ‘hope the right place comes up so we can bring our plans to life here in Evesham’.
Posting on Facebook, the pair said: “Are you moving? Are you closing?
“Quite a few of you have been asking, so we wanted to address the questions and rumours.
“Yes, we are looking for new premises.
“When we opened, we were mainly a takeaway bakery. We put all our money into renovating a former charity shop and equipping our kitchen to make the most delicious food we could, from scratch.
“You fell in love with our sourdough and asked for sandwiches, so we started making them. You enjoyed our coffee and wanted to sit in. Then came soups, breakfasts, speciality drinks and teas… and what began as a little bakery became somewhere to stay a little longer.
“Now we need space for everything it’s become and everything it could become.
“That includes a customer toilet. We know the lack of one makes visiting difficult for some of you, and it’s an important part of our search.
“Often, all our tables are taken, and we see people leave because there’s nowhere left to sit. We’d love to have room for everyone who comes through our door.
“We want to be honest that our next chapter may take us outside Evesham. Finding the right premises isn’t easy, but what we have planned couldn’t happen just anywhere. We know exactly what we’re looking for, and when the doors finally open, you’ll understand why.”
Several residents have already suggested a number of locations in Evesham, including the former Stir Ups, a shop inside Evesham Market Square, or waiting for The Riverside redevelopment, and more.

Speaking with The Evesham Journal, Natalia Kuc added: “We’re really limited by our current space.
“We have a new idea in mind, but we need the perfect premises to make it happen.
“Our new concept would also allow us to open more days a week. Of course, we couldn’t do it all with just the two of us, so we hope to find the right team to help us bring the idea to life.
“We don’t want to leave Evesham. We have so many lovely regular customers who love our products, and we’d really like to stay close to them. Moving further away would also be difficult for us personally, as we already get up at 3:30am and would need to start even earlier.
“For now, we’re simply hoping the right place comes up so we can bring our plans to life here in Evesham.”
