Council issues update after equipment vandalised in popular park

AN update has been issued after play equipment was vandalised at a popular park in Malvern.

Permanent repairs are expected to be carried out on the multi-play toddler unit soon, after it was vandalised overnight between Thursday, October 8 and Friday, October 9.

The equipment, along with the titan spinner in the recently-refurbished main play area, had been fenced off and awaiting repairs at the time.

The titan spinner reopened last week but the toddler unit had to remain out of use for longer, with Malvern Town Council saying it was “sad” to see the equipment vandalised.

In its latest update, the council confirmed that the toddler play unit reopened on Wednesday, October 14 following a temporary repair.

It said on Monday, October 19 that a permanent repair had been planned for later in the week, which will require a 24-hour closure.

“We carried out a temporary repair, and the toddler play unit was open again by Wednesday last week,” a spokesperson for Malvern Town Council said.

“There will be a more permanent repair needed which is planned for later this week.

“The piece of equipment will need to be closed again for about 24 hours but as the weather is looking inclement later in the week , we are hopeful that there will be minimal disruption.”

Victoria Park’s main play area had a major refurbishment over the summer, with new equipment having been installed.

The playground had to close for several weeks, with reopening having been planned for the start of the summer holidays but extreme heat it June meant this was pushed back to August.

The toddler section of the park also underwent some refurbishment, with new equipment installed in 2025.
