Another e-scooter has been seized in the city centre as part of ongoing efforts to tackle illegal use in Worcester.
West Mercia Police confiscated the HSIJOM M5 Elite e-scooter in Worcester’s St. Martins Quarter and issued a reminder to the public about the current laws.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “Another electric scooter off the Worcester streets tonight – seized from St. Martins Quarter within the city centre.
“Although electric scooters are available to buy, they are currently illegal to use on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes and pedestrian-only areas unless part of a legal e-scooter loan scheme.
“As there are no legal schemes in place in Herefordshire or Worcestershire, e-scooters can only be ridden on private land with the permission of the landowner.
“West Mercia Police are actively trying to reduce the anti-social behaviour caused in the community by the illegal use of e-scooters, as well as raising awareness of the law.
“Anyone found using them in public areas risks having the e-scooter seized by the police.”
