A popular longstanding Broad Street bar has closed after nearly 30 years in business.
Walkabout, the Australian-themed sports bar and nightclub in Birmingham, has shut its doors this weekend, on September 13 after a final weekend of celebrations.
A spokesperson for Walkabout Birmingham said: “After all the big games, huge nights, unforgettable parties and incredible memories, Walkabout Birmingham will be closing its doors on 13th September.
“But we’re not going quietly.”
The venue encouraged customers to join them in marking the end of an era on their social media page.
The spokesperson said: “Whether you’ve joined us for the sport, the late nights, the parties or just a cold pint with your mates, we want you there for our final weekend.
“Let’s pack the place out and give Walkabout Birmingham the send-off it deserves.”

Walkabout had been a fixture of Birmingham’s nightlife scene since 1996, known for its lively parties, live sports screenings, and Australian-inspired atmosphere.
Its closure follows a string of Walkabout venue shutdowns across the UK in recent months, as the chain faces mounting financial pressures and tough trading conditions in the hospitality sector.
Venues in Cardiff, Bristol, and Colchester have all closed permanently in 2026, with some operating for more than two decades, and Leicester was served a sudden police and management closure notice in early September 2026.
