SUPPORTERS have been asked to join in with a heartwarming tribute to a former Worcester City footballer during Kidderminster Harriers’ clash with Hartlepool United.
The minute’s applause will take place this evening (Friday, September 11) in the 38th minute of the Harriers clash with the Monkey Hangers in memory of former star David McDermott who died last week aged 38.
During his time with the Harriers between 2008 and 2010, McDermott featured 54 times, scoring twice as part of a promotion-chasing National League side.
The Harriers are now inviting supporters to join in with the tribute.
A Kidderminster Harriers spokesperson said: “The club would like to ask fans to join in with a tribute to former player David McDermott on Friday night.
“The ex-Aggborough winger died recently aged just 38 – we’d encourage all in attendance to join in a minute’s applause at the 38th minute of the match as an act of remembrance to David.
“Our thoughts and best wishes remain with his family and loved ones.”
As well as playing for Kidderminster Harriers, McDermott’s career included him becoming Walsall FC’s youngest-ever league debutant, when he came on as a substitute in the Saddlers’ League Cup clash with Sheffield Wednesday in August 2004.
He also represented Halesowen Town, Stourbridge, and Worcester City.
