Jeremy Clarkson has joked he plans to live for at least another six years after overcoming prostate cancer.
The 66-year-old broadcaster, who runs Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire, made the comments in an interview with The Times, which were reported by the Express.
Viewers of the fifth series of Clarkson’s Farm saw Mr Clarkson receive an aggressive prostate cancer diagnosis and undergo treatment before later confirming the disease was in remission.
Reflecting on the future, he said: “I have a tax plan. I have made arrangements. To live for at least seven more years…Actually, six more years now. And then, if I accidentally croak, I’ll be happy.”
The remark was made in reference to inheritance tax rules and was delivered in Mr Clarkson’s typically tongue-in-cheek style.
The former Top Gear presenter also admitted that while the cancer scare had prompted him to think more carefully about his health, he was not prepared to give up everything he enjoys.
He said: “Sure, I can eat less and more healthily. I can become a herbivore. And yes, I can go for 20-mile hikes and do 20,000 steps a day.
“But the truth is, there has to be some joy in life as well. And not drinking and not eating a pork chop means that there is less joy in life.”
Mr Clarkson has endured a number of health scares in recent years, including a serious heart problem in 2024 before later being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Despite those setbacks, Clarkson’s Farm continues to be one of Prime Video’s most popular programmes.
The series follows life at his 1,000-acre Oxfordshire farm and features regular appearances from Kaleb Cooper, Lisa Hogan and Gerald Cooper.
The show recently won the National Television Award for Reality Docuseries, adding to its growing list of accolades.
