Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper signs exclusive restaurant deal

Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper’s Hawkstone Cider is now being served at Five Guys restaurants.

The Chipping Norton farmer has teamed up with the American burger chain as part of its commitment to a locally sourced, British-backed strategy across its UK stores.

Oxford has one Five Guys restaurant in Magdalen Street.

Mr Cooper, head of apples and tractors at Hawkstone Cider, said: “I’m not one for leaving the farm.

“In fact, I hate being out of my comfort zone.

“But when I found out Five Guys are committed to using British produce, I reckon it was worth the trip.

“The red and white uniform is a bit bright for my liking, and they tried to tell me there are 250,000 ways to order a burger, which frankly makes my head hurt.

“But you can’t argue with the results.

“And epic bacon cheeseburger, a mountain of fries, and my cider.

“It’s basically a farmer’s dream, even if I did have to leave the tractor at home.”

To celebrate the launch, Mr Cooper swapped his tractor for a shift behind the grill at the Cheltenham branch, donning the signature Five Guys uniform and testing his skills in a different kind of field.

Five Guys UK has built its menu around British ingredients, using UK-grown potatoes for its hand-cut fries and British-reared beef for its burgers, with only a small reserve of Irish beef held for certain locations.

The brand said its decision to add Hawkstone Cider to the menu aligns perfectly with its “British beef, British potatoes, and proper, 100% British apple cider” approach.

Launched in 2021, Hawkstone is known for its range of premium British lagers, ciders and spirits.

All products are made exclusively from UK-sourced ingredients and the cider is never made from concentrate.

The brand is currently the fastest-growing beer brand in the UK.

Five Guys was founded in 1986 in Virginia by the Murrell family and launched in the UK in 2013.

The chain has become known for its fresh, made-to-order burgers and fries.

The company prides itself on transparency, with customers able to check the origin of the potatoes used in their meal on restaurant notice boards.

There are no freezers in Five Guys kitchens; everything is delivered fresh, and burgers are grilled to order.

With 15 free toppings, there are 250,000 ways to customise a burger, and more than 1,000 ways to personalise a milkshake.

Hawkstone Cider now joins Hawkstone Premium Lager on the drinks menu at Five Guys.

“So, the next time you’re craving a bespoke burger, a famously generous portion of fries, and maybe even a bacon milkshake, do the right thing and pair it with a proper British pint.”
