A sixth former is celebrating earning his first international rugby cap and helping Jamaica secure a silver medal at an important regional tournament.
Roman Williams, a student at King’s Worcester, was part of the Jamaica U19 squad that competed at the Rugby Americas North (RAN) Men’s U19 XVs Championship.
The competition, held in Querétaro, Mexico, brought together emerging talent and developing national teams from across the Americas.
Roman, who was selected at number 13 outside centre, marked his debut in impressive style by scoring a try during the campaign.
Jamaica enjoyed an outstanding tournament, progressing all the way to the championship final against the USA.
In a closely contested gold-medal match, Jamaica narrowly missed out on the title, losing 18–15 and finishing as well-deserved silver medallists.
For Roman, this tournament is a milestone in his developing rugby career, with the opportunity to represent his Jamaican heritage particularly meaningful.
The experience builds on his rugby journey at King’s Worcester, where he plays as a wing for the First XV.
He is also part of the Coventry Rugby Academy, where he trains and develops within a professional rugby environment.
