Jeremy Clarkson has been praised for his efforts.
The 66-year-old has been farming his own land for the past seven years now, having taken on Diddly Squat farm since 2019.
The old Chipping Norton farmer retired, paving the way for the former Top Gear host to farm the 1,000 acres of Cotswolds land.
His efforts have been documented for five series and counting on the hugely successful farm show Clarkson’s Farm.
Mr Clarkson has been busy with the harvest this past week, which has come significantly earlier for farmers across the UK.
Taking to his Instagram, Mr Clarkson shared a photograph of farm manager Kaleb Cooper on the combine with a bottle of Hawkstone.
He wrote: “What a fantastic day. Harvesting our own beer. There’s no feeling like it.”
Fans were quick to praise the duo for their work in nourishing the nation, with one saying: “Class” and another adding: “Congratulations! Send some our way please.”
Another person responded: “Keep making it – and we’ll promise to keep drinking it Sir.”
A fourth said: “We love you the legend Jeremy Clarkson” while a fifth said: Congrats!! Wishing you guys a good harvest.”
The harvest has come early, with some crops such as cereals experiencing poorer yields, livestock farmers are using winter feed for livestock as a result of poor grass growth, and even those with on-farm reservoirs are likely to run out of supply during August in areas in drought.
And there are warnings that the hard-baked earth will cause issues with harvesting crops such as potatoes and carrots.
Farmers are calling for efforts to make agriculture more resilient to climate change, including making it easier to build on-farm reservoirs and flexible abstraction licences so farmers can take and store water when it rains.
