Tesco has announced an immediate cut to fuel prices across all of its UK filling stations, giving motorists a chance to save as temperatures rise and families hit the road.
From 5pm this evening, June 19, Tesco is reducing the price of diesel by 5p per litre and unleaded petrol by 2p per litre at more than 500 filling stations nationwide.
The move follows a recent fall in global oil prices and could offer welcome relief for drivers facing expensive motoring costs.
For motorists filling a typical 55-litre family car, the reduction could save up to £2.75 on a tank of diesel.
The timing is likely to be particularly welcome as many families prepare for weekend trips, days out and summer travel.
Tesco says the cuts are designed to help customers keep more money in their pockets at a time when household budgets remain under pressure.
Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK Chief Executive, said: “At Tesco we are always looking at how we can deliver great value for our customers, and the extra ways we can help them make savings.”
He added: “By cutting the price of petrol and diesel we hope we can bring down bills and make life a little easier for families, just in time for the weekend.”
The retailer operates more than 500 filling stations across the UK, meaning the lower prices will be available to millions of motorists.
The announcement comes as competition between supermarkets for motorists intensifies, with fuel prices remaining one of the biggest weekly expenses for many households.
For drivers planning journeys over the next few days, the latest reduction could make Tesco one of the cheapest places to fill up this weekend.
And with the cuts already in place, motorists won’t need to wait to take advantage.
The savings are available now at Tesco petrol stations across the UK.
