100 farms to get water meters in pilot scheme to reduce waste

Smart water meters will be installed on more than 100 farms to help spot leaks faster and reduce water waste.

The pilot scheme, led by Severn Trent, will benefit farms across Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Shropshire.

Participants were selected based on water demand and usage patterns to ensure the greatest impact. The meters will be installed over the summer.

Claire Rabbitt, non-household smart metering workstream manager at Severn Trent, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with farmers on this pilot and to bring in technology that can make a practical difference on the ground.”
