POLICE are urging people to safely surrender their knives during an event in Droitwich.
Officers from the town’s safer neighbourhood team will be carrying out a ‘knife surrender’ in the Lido Park next Tuesday (May 19).
People can attend between 12.30pm and 1.30pm to dispose of their knives.

“We will be doing a knife surrender at the Lido Park on Tuesday, May 19, between the hours of 12.30pm and 1.30pm,” said PCSO Ben Mawby.
“Please pop down on these times to safely dispose of your knives.”
What is a ‘knife surrender’?
Police officers will occasionally hold pop-up events, where people can surrender knives and bladed items in secure bins.
West Mercia Police also has amnesty bins across the region, which are available to use anonymously year-round.

Last year, the force said 300 knives were seized in just one week during a crackdown on knife crime, dubbed Operation Sceptre.
