‘Relaxed and friendly’ farm café in beauty spot reopens under new name and owners

A REVIVED café at a holiday farm has reopened under a new name and ownership.

The Bloom Café opened in the cafe previously known the Apple Tree Kitchen at Pitlands Farm, near Clifton-upon-Teme, in March.

The café, alongside the gardens, orchards, and lakes of Pitlands farm, are run and cared for by Ian and Alice Mann.

Mr Mann’s family have owned Pitlands since 1927, when his grandparents first purchased the land.

He said: “I have lived on the farm all of my life, I have seen it change from a pig and poultry working farm to a holiday farm, and now we have added a café.

“We always look forward to spring as our gardens burst into colour, but this year it has been extra special and exciting as we have opened The Bloom Café.

“Creating a relaxed friendly place to eat and drink where people can meet and spend their down time is what it is all about.”

The couple made the decision in November last year to take over Apple Tree Kitchen due to changes to inheritance tax forcing them to ‘protect’ the family’s future at Pitlands.

Mrs Mann said: “Our vision is simple: quality food using seasonal ingredients direct from our orchards and gardens wherever possible, to be enjoyed in our cosy café rooms, beautiful grounds, and quiet spaces.

“As well as our café, which is fully licenced to serve a range of alcoholic beverages, we have a function room for up to 65 people.

“We can cater for all types of events; it’s perfect for small weddings, parties, christenings, baby showers, celebrations of life, wakes, and club meetings, so if you have got something to celebrate, please get in touch.”

The café has plans to hold special event evenings, starting with the launch of ‘Burgers at the Bloom’, on Friday, May 8.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a burger and beer in the garden between 4pm and 7.30pm every Friday.

Apple Tree Kitchen was planning to find new premises and is still running some of its services such as a vintage horsebox for private hire.
