THE first two ducklings of the year have been rescued by one of the biggest wildlife hospitals in the UK.
The pair have been rescued by the Vale Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre after one was abandoned by its mother and the other was found by the side of the road.
Staff at the wildlife hospital gave an update online and said: “This weekend brought us a tiny sign of the season.
“Our first ducklings of the year.
“With the first found alone beside a road with no sign of mum or siblings, the little one was lucky to have been spotted and brought to safety.
“The second arrived yesterday, having sadly been abandoned by mum.
“Now both safe, warm, and receiving the care they need with our team, it will be a few weeks before they’re ready for life in the wild.
“Every spring, we see many vulnerable youngsters just like this, and over the Easter holidays, we expect to have a rise in admissions as more people are out and about.
“If you do come across a young wild animal, please don’t hesitate to get in touch for advice before intervening.
“For now, these tiny fluffballs are settling in nicely, and we’ll keep you updated on their progress.”
